Kamakhya Pemton College seeks to lay the foundations of an “inclusive and safe” campus for every members of the college. On 13th June, 2022, the Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment Cell of the College was instituted to ensure a safe and conducive educational atmosphere for staffs and students.
Under the esteemed leadership of Principal Dr. W. Nimai Singh and Coordinators-Ch. Sanathoiba, HOD, Department of History and Bhanisana Rajkumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology-the cell also prioritizes addressing issues pertaining to Ragging and Sexual Harassment in the college.
Objectives of the Cell:
- To create awareness for preventing Ragging and Sexual-harassment in the college
- To provide a safe and confident space for students, staff, and other members of the college community to voice their concerns, regardless of their gender, race, caste, creed, religion, origin, sexual orientation, disability, or economic status.
- To create a support system for victims of Anti-ragging and
- To ensure compliance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations on curbing ragging and addressing sexual harassment in the college.
Functions of the Cell:
- The cell acts as the authorized point of contact for concerns pertaining to sexual harassment or ragging in the college.
- The cell is also responsible for monitoring and investigation of incident (s) reported in relation to Ragging and Sexual-harassment.
- To conduct workshops, seminars, and awareness programs on ragging, sexual harassment, and related issues.
- Developing and periodically reviewing anti-ragging and sexual harassment policies to ensure they are effective
- Zero Tolerance to Ragging: The cell upholds zero tolerance for ragging and implements strict disciplinary measures against those found guilty, as per UGC regulations. The cell also framed a policy for Anti-ragging based on “UGC Regulations on curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009”.
- Addressing issues of Sexual Harassment in the college: The cell prioritizes measures for preventing and dealing with sexual misconduct. The cell, with the suggestions from college authorities, also framed a policy for sexual harassment based on the legislation- “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013”.
Reporting Ragging and Sexual Harassment
- The aggrieved person(s) must file a complaint with the Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment Cell in order for it to review it and begin any proceedings.
- The Students and Staffs can also contact the designated cell in-charges about any issues associated with ragging and sexual harassment in college campus.
- The Students and Staffs can also submit their issues through teachers of their respective departments, and directly to the Principal.
- Only those who are physically or mentally incapable of filing a complaint may report the complaint with the help of friends, family, co-workers and fellow students.
- No later than three months from the date of the alleged incident, complaints must be submitted in writing or by filling the Online Complaint Form.
- The students and Staffs can also submit their grievances through e-mail of the cell : kamakhyapemtoncollege.ac.in
- The filed complaints must be unambiguous and contain information about the incident or incidents, facts supporting the claims, relevant documents, and the names of the parties involved and contact information of any witnesses if any.
- Aggrieved Students and Staffs are kept informed of the progress and outcome of their grievance throughout the process.
