Library Development Committee
Library has been an integral part of the ecosystem of Kamakhya Pemton College. The College Library serves as valuable educational resources to its students and faculty.
Additionally, the college encourages each department to establish a library designed for their own subject-specific resources. Such departmental libraries, with necessary supports form the college authorities, have been designed to meet the requirements of a specific academic subject.
They provide specialized resources, including books, journals, and other materials directly relevant to the courses, activities research conducted within that department.
The Library Development Committee, established on 8th April, 2023, under the esteemed leadership of Principal Dr. Sapam Aruna Devi and Coordinator Longjam Rishikanta, plays a crucial role in enhancing the college library’s resources and services. Their goal is to ensure the library effectively supports the academic and research needs of the entire campus community, fostering a vibrant learning environment.
Objective:
- To support academic and research needs of the college.
- To enhance function, resources and services of the college library.
- To support the professional development of the staffs of the college.
Functions:
- The Committee functions for the betterment advancement of the college library resources, reviewing the comprehensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources that align with the college’s curriculum and research needs, supporting student learning and faculty development.
- The Committee also works for the improvement of facility of the college library to make a comfortable, functional, and inspiring library space that promotes learning and collaboration, ensuring adequate lighting, comfortable seating, and well-designed study areas.
- The Committee designs initiatives for Technology Integration in the processes of college library, to improve access to information, enhanced library operations and user experiences. Library management systems, digital archives, and online academic and research platforms are some of the digital initiatives in the college.
- The committee seeks to establish Academic and Research Collaboration with all departments of the college and other institutions, ensuring seamless integration of knowledge resources into the curriculum.
- To regularly assess and evaluate library services and resources through user feedbacks
- To organize capacity building programs like training programs, interaction programs and awareness programs, in order to foster a culture of lifelong learning.
